LNG Studio’s Youth Design Scholarship: Future of Vancouver

We are a creative visualization studio specializing in virtual reality, architecture, and real estate. We work with a variety of creative professionals across multiple disciplines each day, and we want to support the development of young talent in our community. LNG Studios is launching the Youth Design Scholarship to provide a creative winner with $2,500 CAD towards their 2021-2022 post-secondary year or to a design-related workshop/course taking place before September 1st, 2022. 
Interested in participating?? We are looking for conceptual design submissions on what you think Vancouver’s skyline will look like in 50, 100 or 200 years from today. As the future of our community, we want to see you consider an intersection, neighbourhood, or skyline and create a rendered or drawn concept of what it will look like in the future. Requirements

  • • Contestants must be 16-21 years old at the time of submission. 

  • • Contestants must be enrolled in a post-secondary school, program, or course for the 2021-2022 academic year OR are participating in a design-related workshop/course before September 1st, 2022.

  • • Contestants must have the copyrights to all materials included in their submission.

  • • One submission per person. Suspected duplicate submission work or duplicate participant will result in disqualification.

  • • Contestants must reside in British Columbia, Canada. 

Submission Details

  • • Select an intersection, area, or skyline of Vancouver and consider what it will look like in the future. Select ONE (1) time range of 50, 100, or 200 years into the future. 

  • • Prepare a rendering or drawing to illustrate your concept. 

  • • Prepare a written description (200-500 words) of why you chose what you did and what considerations you made in the rendering. For example, building materials, effects of climate change, population density, style...etc. 

  • • Bonus consideration is made if you have gone an extra step to discuss your concept with an experienced professional in the industry. Did they have an opinion on the feasibility of your idea? Did they inspire you to go in a specific direction? Please include the name and contact information of the professional you spoke with.

  • • Include a short bio (max. 300 words). Include the academic institution you will be attending and what program you will be enrolled in. Please note the details from your bio may be shared publicly.

Winners will receive:

  • • $2,500 one-time scholarship paid by cheque directly to the noted academic institution

  • • INNOVATE Vancouver book showcasing projects in the innovative and entrepreneurial ecosystem

The Fine Print

  • • No purchase is necessary to enter. A purchase will not increase your chance of winning.
  • • The monetary award will not be made payable to the winner directly.
  • • Amounts are in CAD
  • • Failure to provide LNG Studios with an academic institution or appropriate design workshop may result in the scholarship being given to a new winner.
  • • LNG Studios will not accept, and does not encourage the creation of, content that depicts or promotes:
    • Dangerous or illegal activities
    • Violence
    • Graphic (gore) content
    • Hate Speech
    • Harassment or bullying
    • Medical misinformation
  • • To enter LNG Studio’s Youth Design Scholarship: Future of Vancouver (the “Contest”), you must complete and submit your entry by following the instructions in the Submission Details. 
  • • Limit of one (1) entry per person. If it is discovered that you attempted to enter more than once, whether it be from one email or multiple separate emails, all your entries will be void. 
  • • Contest start time and end time are stated within Submission Details. The time in between is the “Contest Period” 
  • • There is one (1) grand prize (the “Prize”) to be won from among the eligible entries received during the Contest Period. The Prize is a total of $2,500 CAD. The Prize amount will be paid by cheque to the academic institution noted by the Prize winner.
  • • Prize must be accepted as awarded. The Prize may not be sold, transferred and is not convertible to cash.
  • • LNG Studios may, at its discretion, provide alternative payment methods not listed herein. Terms of alternative payment methods are at the sole discretion of LNG Studios. 
  • • To enter and to be eligible to win, the entrant must be a legal resident of British Columbia and be in or between 16-21 years of age. Employees and their parents, siblings and children, and persons domiciled with an employee of LNG Studios are ineligible to enter.
  • • The odds of winning the Prize will depend upon the total number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period. LNG Studios acting reasonably will attempt to contact the potential winner by email provided. Proof of identification must be provided upon request.
  • • Acceptance of the Prize assumes that the potential winner has read and understood these official rules and regulations (“Rules”), accepts the Prize as offered and releases the LNG Studios from any and all liability of any kind arising out of the potential winner’s, participation in this Contest and receipt and use of the Prize. 
  • • By entering this Contest the entrants and participants automatically agree to accept and abide by these Rules. All decisions of LNG Studios with respect to any aspect of this Contest, including without limitation the eligibility of entries, are final and binding on all entrants in all matters as they relate to this Contest.
  • • All entries become the property of LNG Studios, who assume no responsibility for garbled, lost, late, delayed, destroyed or misdirected mail, voice messages, email or any computer errors or malfunctions. No correspondence will be entered into except with entrants requesting Rules by email. LNG Studios do not assume any responsibility for incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry information, technical malfunctions, human or technical error, seeding or printing errors, lost, delayed or garbled data or transmissions, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or failures of any telephone or computer line or network, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof. Entry materials-data that have been tampered with or altered are void. If for any reason, in the opinion of the LNG Studios, in their sole discretion, the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, or if the administration, security, fairness, integrity or the proper conduct of the Contest is corrupted or adversely affected, including by reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond their control, LNG Studios reserve their right to cancel, terminate, modify, amend, extend or suspend the Contest including cancelling any method of entry, and select a winner from previously received eligible entries. LNG Studios holds the right to change competition dates as it sees fit at any time, as well as revoke any promotion or competition without further notice. LNG Studios reserve their right to modify the Rules without materially affecting the terms and conditions hereof. The LNG Studios reserve their right in their sole discretion to disqualify any individual they find to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of the Rules or otherwise in a disruptive manner. Any attempts to deliberately damage the Contest website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made LNG Studios reserve their right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent of the law. LNG Studios shall not be held responsible for any errors or negligence that may arise or occur in connection with the Contest including any damage to an entrant’s computer equipment, system, software or any combination thereof, as a result of their participation in this Contest or from downloading any material from the Contest web site.
  • • The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. By entering this Contest, each entrant consents to the collection, use and distribution of their personal information (information that identifies an entrant as an individual, such as home telephone number, age and home address) by LNG Studios for the purposes of implementing, administering and fulfilling this Contest. LNG Studios will not sell or transmit this information to third parties except for the purposes of administering this Contest.   • • All intellectual property, including but not limited to trademarks, trade names, logos, designs, promotional materials, web pages, source codes, drawings, illustrations, slogans and representations, are owned by LNG Studios and or their affiliates.   • • Competition entries are legally the property of LNG Studios upon submission. LNG Studios reserves the right to publish submitted work on the LNG Studios website and any other platform that seems fit. LNG Studios may aim to publish competition work on as many platforms as possible; individuals and teams agree to these publications upon submission.
  • • Winners and finalists of an LNG Studios competition agree to participate in any interviews or publicity matters upon reasonable request.
